I received an email yesterday from my friend, Peter, that said “I’m glad you started your blog. Although I’m not going to be sharing my review of the new Galaxy S21 on here, I thought you may be interested in learning more about the ColorOS 12 platform and what it can do for you.”
This morning, we got to know that the Nokia 8.1 received the final certification from TENAA for Chinese certification. We also learned that the phone will be launched in China on September 23, 2018. Also, it is mentioned that the phone should be launched in all other markets in a few weeks.
The new colorOS 12 is set to make its debut in China this week, and it will bring some interesting new features for smartphones to the country. Most importantly, the update will introduce the first-ever dual-camera system in the country, and it will also pack some AI features like a personality detector and a selfie enhancer.
The upcoming Android 12 beta build will most likely be the final beta build of the forthcoming Android OS. Smartphone manufacturers have already begun development on their next custom skin, which will run on Android 12. And Oppo is no exception; this year, the company will debut ColorOS 12, which, as the name implies, will operate on top of Android 12. According to the leaks, ColorOS 12 will bring some substantial UI changes to Oppo phones, as well as a slew of other improvements. You can learn about ColorOS 12 features, Eligible Devices, Release Date, and more in this article.
Oppo introduced its current custom skin – ColorOS 11 – on September 14th of last year. A large number of Oppo phones released in the last two years have already received the Android 11 update based on ColorOS 11. However, testing on a few pending phones is still ongoing. I’m hoping Oppo will soon release ColorOS 11 for pending products as the firm shifts its focus to ColorOS 12 based Android 12. So, let’s take a closer look at the ColorOS 12 custom skin.
You may check the ColorOS 12 release date here before continuing on to the features and eligible devices section.
When will ColorOS 12 be released? (Expected)
Oppo was one of the first smartphone manufacturers to release a custom skin based on Android 11 last year. Within the first week of Android 11’s release, the business debuted its ColorOS 11 skin. Because the official version of Android 12 has yet to be released by Google, Oppo hasn’t said anything about its impending skin. And I’m hoping that the corporation will do the same this year.
When Oppo officially unveils its forthcoming skin, ColorOS 11, we’ll update with further information about the release date. Let’s look at the ColorOS 12 features now.
Features of ColorOS 12 (Expected)
ColorOS 12 is expected to make significant modifications to the Oppo phones’ user interface. In addition, the business is planning to incorporate some components from its spin-off brand’s bespoke skin, Hydrogen OS. Here are some of the features and changes that the ColorOS 12 based Android 12 update on Oppo devices is expected to bring.
Elements of the HydrogenOS User Interface
OnePlus discarded its HydrogenOS skin in favor of Oppo’s ColorOS in China. Not only that, but OnePlus and Oppo announced their merger earlier this month. Because HydrogenOS is no longer supported, there are suspicions that Oppo would include some of its UI elements in the future ColorOS 12. Below is an allegedly leaked screenshot of the clock app from ColorOS’s upcoming release, which features UI components from HydrogenOS.
Smoother User Interface
ColorOS 11 from Oppo is the smoothest custom skin in its class. The forthcoming ColorOS 12 skin is expected to be just as slick as its predecessor. Thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate panel support, it feels buttery smooth on high-end phones like the Find X3 by Oppo Pro or Oppo Reno 6 Pro. Oppo could also use some additional animations to show off ColorOS’s fluidity.
The Notification Bar has been updated.
The ColorOS notification center will be redesigned by Oppo. The leaks also point to the same conclusion. When it comes to changes, Oppo will increase the transparency effect in the redesigned notification bar, making it look more like Xiaomi’s control center. Not only that, but the default file manager’s UI has undergone significant alterations. The ColorOS 12 control center and file manager are shown for the first time.
Customization and new widgets
The redesigned widgets are the highlight of the future Android OS, dubbed Android 12. It will, without a doubt, be available on every other Android smartphone. Google has updated the Android widgets system, and the new widgets in Android 12 are fantastic. However, it is unclear whether Oppo will make any changes to it or if it will remain unchanged from the Android 12 default widgets that we saw on Pixel phones during the Android 12 beta launch event.
The Settings App has been updated.
Apart from the aforementioned modifications, the leaks also imply that with the release of ColorOS 12 based Android 12, Oppo would rework the UI of the Settings app. The current version has a minimalistic design with minimal icons. The Settings app will now feature colored icons, according to the company.
Privacy and security have improved.
Android 12 includes a long variety of privacy options. When any app uses the camera or microphone, the icon appears in the upper right corner of the screen. The best part is that users may alter the app’s permissions simply touching on the camera or microphone indicator. A Privacy Dashboard has also been added by Google. This feature displays information on which apps use which sensors, such as the camera, microphone, location, or any other sensor, as well as the timeline.
Other enhancements include scrolling screenshots, notification improvements, on-device app search, simpler Wi-Fi sharing, one-handed mode, new emojis, enhanced auto rotation, AVIF image compatibility, and more. Yes, after updating to ColorOS 12, you may use the core features of Android 12 OS on Oppo phones.
Eligible ColorOS 12 Devices (also known as Compatible Phones) (Expected)
Oppo will upgrade a slew of Oppo phones with the upcoming ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 version. Although the business has not released an official list of which phones will receive the next skin, based on previous years’ trends, we expect it to be accessible on a wide range of inexpensive, mid-range, and upper-mid-range phones.
If you own an Oppo phone and want to know if it’s compatible with the impending ColorOS 12 skin, here’s a list of phones that we’re hoping will receive the ColorOS 12 based Android 12 upgrade. Let’s get to the list now.

Google, the company that we all love but knows it can’t be trusted with our money, has finally unveiled the list of devices that are eligible for its new Android operating system. It made it clear that only Google-approved devices will receive the Android 7.1 “Nougat” update, and that means that only Pixel and Nexus smartphones will get it. This is not the first time that Google has limited the release of its software to Google-approved devices, and it certainly won’t be the last. It’s a tactic that makes sense for a company that doesn’t want to take the risk of having its code leaked to other manufacturers.. Read more about coloros android 12 and let us know what you think.
