I have become a big fan of Wearable Technology (Wearable Tech) ever since I started wearing my Android Wearable Tech Watch. It is an LG G Watch and it has made me a believer in wearing watches. Before I received my LG G Android Wear Watch, I had only worn watches as jewelry and not as a timepiece.
Now, wearable tech has completely changed my mind. As a blogger, I love finding ways to make my blogging process easier. Whether it’s brainstorming ideas, writing or even making sure my content is shared successfully online, I have found apps that make things easier.
Monitoring Social Media and Trends with Wearable Tech
One of the things that my wearable tech has done is to make it easier for me to monitor my social media, especially if I have a social media campaign going on. When I receive alerts on my phone, they also show on my wearable tech. Without picking up my phone, I can look at my watch to see what the alerts are.
Some of the social media alerts that I can monitor are:
What is key to me staying on top of my blogging is being aware what’s going on in my market. So I have alerts setup to let me know what’s trending. These alerts come into Gmail and when they arrive, I receive a notification that also shows up on my wearable tech. There are additional Google products that work with wearable tech which are below:
» Google Now
» Google Hangouts
» Google Keep
» Google Maps
» Google Calendar
Brainstorming Ideas and Writing Content Using Wearable Tech
When it comes to blog post ideas, it has been very helpful to brainstorm different topics that would connect with my target market. One way of doing this to record my blogging ideas whenever I get them and then later sort them out.
My wearable tech watch has made my brainstorming process easier because now I can use a recording app right on my watch to record my ideas. The recording is then stored on my phone and I can playback later when I’m sorting my ideas.
Have you ever been somewhere and had a great blogging idea pop into your head yet you didn’t have the time gather all of your thoughts? Well, thanks to my wearable tech, I can now compile my thoughts on the go, literally. The Evernote app for Android Wear make this possible. Some of the features you will be able to do with your wearable tech using Evernote are (resource Google Play Store):
» Create a note with simple voice commands.
» View a note on your phone, lock the screen and that note appears on your watch.
» Check off to-dos by tapping your watch, and add new to-dos by speaking the to-do name.
» Find notes by speaking the text you are looking for.
» Find notes you created nearby, and notes you looked at recently.
» See relevant notes and content appear on your watch whenever you have a calendar event.
» For recurring meetings, see notes created during prior meeting. It is an LG G Watch and it has made me a believer in wearing watches. Click To Tweet
Taking Pictures for Use in Blog Posts
One of the things that I love about my wearable tech is the fact that I can use it to control the camera on my phone to take pictures. I love this because there are times when I need to be in the picture and I don’t want to do a selfie. Or I may want to place my camera in a specific location and control it remotely when I want to take a picture.
Thanks to my wearable tech, I’m able to do just that. All you have to do is turn on the camera app on your phone and then you will be given the option control your camera using the wearable tech. I find this very useful at events when I want to take a picture with someone or a group and I want to be in it. Or I want to record an interview using the camcorder function built into my phone.
As a blogger, this has been very helpful because once the picture or recording is stored on my phone, I can then use them as part of my blogging efforts. I personally have a Nexus 5 and the case is a Maxboost Nexus 5 Case. The best thing of all is that I have a kickstand that is part of the protective case on my phone that enables me to do this. Wearable technology has brought convenience to blogging we just did not have before.
